Friday's flowers are fabulous

There is something about settling into one's own skin. A time when your gangling legs and arms catch up with your body and suddenly you look at yourself and everything feels right. As it should be...

Freesias in autumnal colours

I wandered into the shop yesterday afternoon, shortly after the flowers had arrived. The fridge was full and flowers had exploded onto the surrounding tables. The bookcase highlighted new vases that were absolutely divine. The girls were busy making exquisite arrangements, the phone was ringing, music and laughter and the sense of productive, happy busy-ness and the scent of flowers filled the air. The high stools for the counter and the new chairs from Restoration Hardware had been put in place, ready. After months of being in our space I realized, I'd come home.  Come visit!

Something beautiful

When we are not doing weddings, events or designing personal flowers, we steal a moment to create something beautiful. A collection of textures and colours, fragrances and flowers. Perfect as a gift or by your bedside. Come into Petals today and let us make something magical. Just for you or for someone you adore. What a perfect gift to say "just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you".

I had to smile

...when I saw the first photo in the collection of images Amanda sent for the blog. They began with a vase filled with peonies. Fresh out of the box, just cut and being conditioned. Still healing after their journey from around the world. Although beautifully wrapped, they were still cramped and thirsty for water. Much like I feel after I have been flying. And they were for me. A gift. The perfectly pink Sarah Bernhart peonies are now sitting on the corner of my desk. Satiated. Lethargy shaken off, they are content in being what they were supposed to be - absolutely beautiful. Appreciated. Admired. Loved.

Today the fridge is deliciously full and fat with flowers. Colours, textures, smells. How can you even imagine your weekend without a bloom by your bedside, on a hallway table, or if you are like me, beautiful blooms on your desk. A touch of colour and much beauty to make you pause, if only for a moment. But most of all, they make you smile.

Once Wed - Flowerwild Workshop Captured by Photographers Jose Villa and Amanda Temple

Do you ever come across a photograph and feel a flood of memories overwhelm you? Moments stolen or forgotten of a particular vignette, frozen by your perception of that time. When you linger over each image, do you remember the pungent smells, the textures and the tears or even the laughter that made up that split second - captured forever by a camera?  I do.

Bouquet Designed by Nikki J Begg, Creative Director @ Petals

The images taken by Jose Villa at The Flowerwild workshop Amanda and I attended back in March in Palm Springs, California are to be featured today on Once Wed. They have just arrived via Drop Box and in doing so, awoke a treasure trove of memories from what feels like an eternity ago. I vividly recall the profusion of amazing bouquets we made, but above all, I remember the incredible group of women, each with an insatiable curiosity and a love of floral design, absolutely in their element, doing what they most love. Everything flowers.

We had all travelled from across the globe to attend the workshop
